I wanted to suggest to students that this might be something they might want to consider. Summer classes can be expensive if a student is not eligible for grants. However, if a student completes the 2020-2021 FAFSA and is eligible for Federal Pell Grant, they can get some or possibly all of their tuition paid for that summer term after high school graduation.
By taking summer classes, students might be able to get some pre-requisites out of the way before the fall term begins. It is also a good way to concentrate on one or two classes at once and maybe take a more difficult class or a class you are dreading. And, it can also be a good way to get acclimated to the campus before the majority of the students arrive for the fall term.
If you are considering attending the summer term, whether at the local community college or a 4 year college or university, I would suggest speaking with the college admissions office as well as an academic advisor. You don’t want to end up taking a class that you really don’t need!
We would be happy to assist you with completing your FAFSA, no matter which term you are planning on attending. You can schedule an appointment at www.icansucceed.org or by calling 877-272-4692.
Please take care and let us at ICAN know if we can help!
