April is Financial Literacy Month. This month was first recognized in 2004 in an effort to highlight the importance of financial literacy and teach citizens how to establish and maintain healthy financial habits.
This is a perfect time for young people to become familiar with basic (and not so basic) concepts of financial well-being. Your high school or college probably has something planned for financial literacy month. Whether it’s a month long event or a webinar/seminar on financial health, you should consider participating. Find out about credit scores, interest rates, investing, personal loans, college loans, car loans, co-signers, the stock market, etc. If you have a bank account already see if your banking institution is doing anything for financial literacy month, again, plan to take part.
