Wellness in the time of COVID

Colder days are upon us and with that comes cold/flu season. 2020 was the year that kept on giving (bad news) and one of the scariest things it’s given us is COVID-19. With 2021 upon us, we hope for better but know there is a long road ahead before COVId-19 is truly behind us. Below are things you can do to stay healthy. You know all of this already, but it’s a good reminder.

  • Eat well. Eating nutritious meals will strengthen your immune system.
  • Cut back on meaningless snacking. If you feel “hungry”…ask yourself “do I want an apple?” if the answer is “yes”, you’re probably hungry, eat something. But if the answer is “no”, then you’re not hungry, you just have the munchies. Drink a glass of water, drink some tea or go for a short walk, the hungry feeling will pass.
  • Rest. 8 hours a sleep a night does wonders for your well-being.
  • Hydrate. Take your weight, divide it by half…that’s how many ounces of water you should drink every day.
  • Work out. 10,000 steps a day, 30-60 min of active movement per day…however you can get your heart rate up, do it.
  • Avoid crowded places. If you can’t avoid them, wear a mask and distance yourself from others.
  • Disinfect things that you touch often. Your phone, computer, pens, pencils etc.
  • Say no to germs. Wash your hands often and get a flu shot.
Cold, flu and COVID aren’t’ going anywhere, but if you take precautions you can significantly reduce the risk of getting sick. If you get sick, seek medical attention and stay away from others.

Be well.
