The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot of things this year and one of those changes is the way in which we can connect. Traditionally campus visits and recruiter visits to high school play a major role in selecting a college. College fairs are an important tool as well.
This year all of those traditional options have been removed as we social distance and limit travel of college recruiters. But the need to explore and make decisions for the future still remain. So what can you do?
Every September ICAN hosts the largest college and career fair in the state of Iowa – the Golden Circle College Fair. In fact, this year is our 30th annual event. However, as mentioned above, we can’t bring 2,500 people together in a conference center safely. So we are moving this event online.
Sunday, September 20 from 1-3 pm the largest virtual college fair in Iowa is going to be held. It’s free and will feature more than 100 colleges and universities from across the United States, as well as military and student services experts, and informational virtual booths on career planning and apprenticeships.
This is a FREE event and every high school student should take advantage of this opportunity to have conversations with prospective schools and get to know your options. We have 16 states represented. Click here to check out the full list of more than 100 institutions.
A virtual fair means you just register and then click the entrance link you are emailed. It’s that simple. Then you have access to every planning tool you need and can talk to as many colleges and universities as you want – all from the comfort of your own home.
Each college will have a video conferencing link in their virtual booth. Simply click the link to the college you want to talk to and BOOM – you are in a virtual meeting space and can ask all your questions and learn about the college.
